A PAIR OF MEISSEN STYLE GILDED, DECORATED, AND EMBOSSED PORCELAIN SIX-LIGHT WALL SCONCES
19th century Each wall sconce consisting of a long ovoid plaque with a central portrait of a man or woman in eighteenth-century dress, two nude females leaning against its sides and a fully modeled head of a roaring lion at the bottom; flowers at the top supporting two fully modeled pheasants; three pairs of decorated sockets along the sides for six removable and swiveling scrolling arms ending in leafy candle cups holding faux candles, all embellished with small applied flowers and leaves; electrified; two different maker's marks of blue crossed lines on back edges, one at top center, the other at bottom center. plaque only: 20 ½ x 12 ¾ x 6 inches (52.1 x 32.3 x 15.2 cm); scrolling arms varying in height and length Two pieces total ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
