A SEVRÈS STYLE TWO-HANDLED GILT BRONZE MOUNTED COMPOTE
French, Early 19th Century
The circular cerulean blue ground porcelain compote having a central reserve featuring two women sharing a love note in a rural setting being approached by a young man; supported by a gilt bronze two-handled Empire style base; maker's mark on plate underside of interlocking double ""L""s with 7 in the center and a green stamped oval with a diagonal stamped line within. Condition: Wear to enamel surface and gilt edge of plate; some minor deformation of circular bronze support and wear to gilt bronze finish. 7 x 14 x 11 ½ inches (17.8 x 35.6 x 29.2 cm)
