19th Century
Each elaborately detailed figure dressed in eighteenth century clothing with capes billowing in the wind; the maiden holding a basket of flowers in her right hand with a lamb standing at her left side; the gentleman holding three flowers in his right hand with an attentive dog sitting at his right side; the base formed by shells and large foliate scrolls; small red maker's or painter's mark on lower back side of tree stump. Condition: Woman: one flower cluster missing from tree stump; one leaf and a few leaf tips broken off flowers on ground; a few leaf tips and petal edges broken off flowers in basket and in her hand; one loop of ribbon bow on hat broken off. Man: one flower cluster missing from tree stump; one leaf tip broken off a flower on ground; a few leaf tips and petal edges broken off flowers in his hand; one loop of ribbon bow on hat and knickers broken off.. Man: 12 ¾ x 7 5/8 x 6 1/4 inches (32.3 x 19.3 x 15.9 cm); woman: 12 ½ x 5 ¾ x 6 inches (31.7 x 14.1 x 15.2 cm)
