A FRENCH PROVINCIAL PAINTED TWO DOOR ARMOIRE
Late 18th Century The gray painted ground of the armoire body is accentuated by sea green painted accents on moldings. The serpentine cornice molding is supported by a rectilinear body with a pair of locking doors which conform to the shape of the cornice. Each door is constructed with three undulating reserves with outlined molding and large painted hinges. The side panels are constructed with rectangular reserves with painted outline molding. The keyhole is backed with a large pierced fretwork escutcheon. Condition: Wear to finish, some warping to doors. Minor splits due to shrinkage and original back boards. Includes key.
