A SET OF FOUR LOUIS XIV STYLE WALNUT ARMCHAIRS
Late 19th Century
The humpback molded crest rail of the rectilinear back is supported by shaped legs with scroll form feet and stabilized by downswept arms of ovoid section and large scroll form handles supported by shaped supports and scroll form legs. The whole stabilized by a serpentine H-stretcher and a high front stretcher. Later upholstered in modern tapestry style fabric with bronze nail head detail. Dowel construction throughout.
Condition: Wear and patination to frame, particularly at handles; very minor scratches on base and at legs. Fabric and upholstery in good condition. Inactive worm damage and two age cracks; patination to finish. 43 x 26 ½ x 24 ½ inches (109.2 x 67.3 x 62.2 cm)
