Chinese hand carved ivory chess set consisting of 32 pieces and having fitted wooden box that converts in to the playing surface. Each piece is meticulously carved and monochromed to depict Emperor & Empress as king and queen. Pagoda tower as rook. Warriors on Kylin beasts as knights. Standing sages as the bishops. The pawns are depicted as the 8 immortals. Largest piece measures 9" height (22.8cm). Smallest piece 4 1/2" height (11.4cm)
