A VICTORIAN BRASS INLAID WALNUT PORTABLE WRITING DESK, CIRCA 1871, the rectangular hinged top centering a shield form cartouche engraved with 'To Minnie Dec. 25 1871' over 'July 27, 06', within brass string borders and waved trim above paired doors opening to a rosewood interior having stepped open shelves with a pull-out hinged box opening to a crimson velvet lined writing surface adjoining two inkwell compartments storing molded glass ink pots flanking a covered utensil trough. Height: 6 3/4" Width: 14 1/2" Depth: 10 3/4
