A PAIR OF CONTINENTAL RENAISSANCE REVIVAL GILT SPELTER EWERS, POSSIBLY FRENCH, EARLY 20TH CENTURY, each having a spherical body cast with panels of beaded oval cabochons within curling strapwork cartouches alternating stylized flowers and bearded smiling masks beneath blossoming garland swags flanked by a maiden caryatid with jeweled diadem and acanthus wrapped scrolling handle enclosing a grotesque mask surmounted by a roaring dragon above an everted spout centering fruit cluster details, raised on a knobbed socle with "C" scroll framed ovules over foliate panels on a leaf-tip cast circular plinth, fitted for electricity. Height: 24 7/8" Width: 11 7/8" Depth: 8 1/8"
