FROM THE ESTATE OF WILLIAM VANDEVER, A PAIR OF VINTAGE CHINESE CARVED IVORY EMPEROR AND EMPRESS FIGURAL SHRINES, SECOND-QUARTER 20TH CENTURY, each modeled in a seated position wearing delicately detailed court robes and hat decorated with their respective iconographic attributes while holding a cloth wrapped box or a small ruyi scepter and seated on a claw footed throne with appropriate iconic decoration within a three panel screen enclosing finely detailed roaring dragons and/or spread-winged phoenix with blossoming peony on a shaped rectangular plinth engraved with character marks above a frieze of opposing dragons centering a flaming pearl and/or phoenix flanking a peony blossom in shallow relief, raised on a custom hardwood stand.
