A Pair of French Spelter Cherub Figures with Bronze Patina Mounted to Marble BasesH=24, W=7 1/2, D=7 1/2Very Good Condition _ Old Restorations to Marble- C. 1900These charming French spelter cherubs are a depiction a young girl and boy running with a wheel at their feet. The young boy has a baton in his raised arm and a quiver resting upon his other forearm. The young girl holds the horn a cornucopia upside down in her raised arm and her flowing scarf in the arm at her side. In Greek and Roman mythology, there is much symbolism regarding these cherub figures.The figures rest upon a stepped out verde marble base which rests upon four bronze ormolu acanthus leaf feet.
