C.1837 seven volume complete set of the Memoirs of the Life of Sir Walter Scott,Bart. The date shown in Roman Numerals on the title page. Printed in Edinburgh by Ballantyne & Co,Paul's work. Robert Cadell,Edinburgh and John Murray And Whittaker And Co,London also listed. Black and white illustration of Sir Walter on the interior of Vol. I as well as a fold out page of his handwriting in 1799. Dark brown leather spine with gold tooling,camel leather corners and partial front cover combined with gold,black and brown peacock feather design also used on the first page. Volume I missing a small piece of the leather spine at top as well as another volume missing half a spine cover. Top page edges are gilded. The edges of the pages have darkened slightly but all intact and remarkable condition for the age. Measure 5L X 8H X 1D each.
