English 19th century,C.1850-60 hand made corner cupboard, cabinet or chest with empire styling is made of fine grained English oak with a gorgeous rich patina to the hand rubbed finish. The grain so fine it appears as walnut. Originally a built in cabinet when the talented carpenter was hired to make all of the cabinets for the home or home and cabinets and they were built in. Unusual twisted wire handle and uniquely shaped brass hinges and lock,no key,all original to the piece. Dental molding carving above the single door with dual recessed panels and two interior storage areas. Either for hanging or setting. Excellent condition. Measures 22H X 22.25L X 10.75D.
