Description: 19th. century Persian Jewish altar in form of a mirror. The gates of the sacred arch altar are hand-painted on gesso featuring birds and flowers and open to reveal an interior mirror. The inscription on the mirror are reverse painted and represent 6 Hebrew names. This is a very rare artifact of religious importance to Sephardic Jewish cultural inheritance. Size: 19" X 13.8" (48 X 35 cm.).
