Early 19th. century Islamic manuscript book

Description: Unique representation of Islamic art is this manuscript book commissioned by the emir of Buchara almost 200 years ago and written by the most famous calligrapher at that time, Yarmuhammad Bayqarakshi from Herat, now in Afghanistan. The book has 5 chapters each in form of a book dated on the last page between 1231 AH and 1233 AH (Anno Hegirae). The first book relates to the philosophical achievements, life in the world, parables, legends and explanations. It has 7976 versets and is named Hairet-ol-abrar. The last page includes the name of the emir of Buchara, Mir Ali Sheer Navai who commissioned the manuscript book and the calligrapher. The second book is named Farhad-o Shirin and is the story of 2 lovers. The hero of the story in order to demonstrate his love, goes to the mountains and brings water from the heart of the stones. The third book is named Leyla ile Majnun and is a revival of the 16th. century Persian story Fuzuli. The 4th. book is named Sabai Sayyar and is a mythical Persian legend of Bahram Gur. The covers have gold tughra inside and outside and each chapter has a miniature painting. Rubrication was done profusely throughout the book and the calligraphy is out-standing. Except some water stains, the book is in excellent condition for its almost 200 years. This large format manuscript book is a master work of Islamic art and unique!. Dimensions: 15.8" x 10.2" (40 x 26 cm.).
