Description: 18th.-19th. century century ivory carving representing a plaque with a landscape design. A horseman followed by a peasant holding 2 buckets are crossing a bridge with a stream of water rushing underneath. An inscription is written above in 3 vertical rows. The ivory plaque has on the reverse the archaic seal of emperor Zhia Qing (1796-1821), that followed the reign of Qien Lung. Attractive yellow toning and age lines attest to the old age of this wonderful and very rare ivory carving. Size: 5.5" X 2.5" (14 x 6 cm.).
