Description: 18th.-19th. century century ivory carving representing a plaque with a landscape design. A horseman (sennin who attained Buddhist purification and prefered to stay on the earth rather than celestial heaven)followed by a peasant holding 2 buckets are crossing a bridge with a stream of water rushing underneath. A blooming prunus is featured in the right upper corner. Attractive yellow toning and age lines attest to the old age of this wonderful rare ivory carving. Size: 5" X 2.8" (13 x 7 cm.).
