Description: Antique Japanese bronze pair of vases decorated in bas relief with inlaid gold, shakudo and shibuichi hand decorations. It dates to second half of 19th. century, Meiji period. The obverse side is decorated with peony flower, buds made from inlaid gold and shakudo leaves. A flying bird has inlaid gold beak and wigs and shakudo body. The reverse side has flowers and leaves inlaid in shakudo, as well as shibuichi and gold inlaid in the flowers. This masterpiece of Japanese art is not signed. Height: 6.2" (16 cm.). Width: 5.5" (14 cm.). Estimated value: $6000.
