18th Century French "Ciel de Lit"

(English Translation: Sky of the Bed) Condition: Loss of gilding to the wood throughout its history, consistent with its age; age separations to wood _ Late 1700Ís This elegant antique French Ciel de Lit is parcel giltwood. It has ornamentation of acanthus leaf volutes, a stylized shell, and laurel leaf supports. These pieces were essential to the French bed, allowing for magnificent drapery arrangements to be hung from them at the headboard. We are also selling the Bergamo fabric treatment made for this ciel de lit in a separate listing. H=16 3/8, Depth=25, W=25 3/8
