Antique Clay Terrine from France We believe this is a late 19th century terrine from France. The word "terrine" comes from the French word "terre", which means earth, and refers to the earthenware dish. This French terrines with its rich glaze and strong clay could withstand oven warming without cracking. Today, it can be used as serving dishes.
