Pair of French Gros Relief Barbotine Vases with Ormolu

Lot Passed

Theodore LeFront (1835-1893) _FontainebleauCondition: Old restorations to attachment of ormolu bases. Theodore LeFront began working with faience and porcelaine in an atelier in Fontainebleau in 1860. He had several apprenticeships with various other porcelain ateliers until opening his own in 1872. Numerous exposition medals were awarded LeFront between 1866 and 1884 for his pieces. These vases have ormolu at the top with handles and at the base with four lionÍs head feet. The ground colors are mottled yellow ochre blending into brown/black with painted blue marguerites. The gros relief flowers and leaves are variegated cream and peach hollyhocks flowers in various stages of bloom from buds to full grown flowers with leaves throughout. These are collectorÍs items and will be a wonderful addition to French barbotine collection. H=15 5/8
