Magnificent custom made unusual desk and chair with built in sconces from late 19th century,probably Italian. Beautiful rich honey and brown tones to the patina of the maple burl upper section,rock maple legs and reeded spindle support bar. Solid brass banding around the perimeter of the desk and doors,along double flush drawer fronts and center of legs. Camel built in leather desk pad with gold tooling between two curtained side compartments in antique cream,deep red,blue and gold stripe fabric with slight sheen measuring 3.5D each. Curtains attached on brass screw top rods as well as shirred stripe curtains behind brass lattice double doors with brass knobs exterior sides which measure 4.5D each. Easily replaced if desired. Double curved burl shelves on each of the four corners. Ornate brass sconces affixed for small based bulb either side of leather top which our restoration department have rewired completely and replaced the on/off switch beneath the desk top right side. Gives wonderful lighting and work perfectly,small shades could be added. Excellent solid brass ornate feet on wheels for each foot. Loop and floral carving on back and header of matching chair with loose cushion in the same stripe. Minor wear to left front decking fabric,however the loose cushion extends slightly over which masks as well as takes the seating wear. A rare and handsome piece in excellent condition displaying superb craftsmanship. Desk measures 46L X 37H,desktop 29H X 24W. Chair,32.75H X 21L X 22D. Seat is 19.75 inches from floor. Very comfortable and perfect height for using the desk with ample knee space.
