Bust of Howard Young(1878-1972) by sculptor Jo Davidson(1883-1952). Mounted on a green marble base, signed and inscribed within the casting, Jo Davidson, Paris, 1920. Also has a foundry mark which is indecipherable. Howard Young was a wealthy art dealer and philanthropist who upon his death donated the major portion of funding to start the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff, Wisconsin. In 2006, The Smithsonian Institution's National Portrait Gallery opened a permanent exhibition, "Jo Davidson: Biographer in Bronze", showcasing fourteen Davidson works in terracotta and bronze, including portraits of Gertrude Stein and Lincoln Steffens.
