Oil on canvas portrait of the schooner "Ann S. Brown" by William Hare (Baltimore, 1815-65). A marine painter that established himself in Baltimore and may be the earliest ship portrait painter to have come from that area. Though unsigned his style is formulaic which makes this attribution an easy task.
Schooner Ann S. Brown was built in 1856 and home ported in Tuckerton, NJ and owned by Brown.
