O/C Mother & Child Italian School, Madonna & Child, in a correct period ornate gold frame. There is a very strong 16th and 17th century artistic influence with this painting. The Madonna and Child are in the style of an image that became particularly popular during the 15th century in Florence and was imitated elsewhere. These representations are usually of a small size suitable for a small altar or domestic use. This painting has the Madonna and child behind a windowsill, a common convention of this period.
