Fine ink & watercolor painting by Howard Baer illustrating an African-American man leading a mule cart with another man riding on the back. In a matte and covered with protective plastic.
Size: 10.25" x 12" Weight: 4oz Condition: very good, in protective matte ready for framing. This artist is in the collection of the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Howard Baer was born in Finleyville, Pa., Feb 14th, 1906, and lived in NYC. He studied at Carnegie Institute, Exhibited at PAFA, 1942, Carnegie Institute, 1949, Paris, France,1950, 1958, Corcoran Gallery of Art, 1949. His collections are displayed at The Museum of Modern Art, Walker Museum, Youngstown, Ohio, and the Pentagon Archives of War. He was an Instructor at Henry Street Settlement, and Parsons School of Design, NYC. He illustrated a children's book and was the author and illustrator of "Now This Now That", 1957, and contributed to the New Yorker, Esquire, and other magazines.
