Oil on Canvas Turner River Road by Thomas Dawkins

Oil on Canvas painting 'Turner River Road' by Thomas R. Dawkins, Florida landscape artist, he passed in 1997. It is an Everglades landscape, with cranes standing in sawgrass, palm trees, and a darkening sky that appears ready to shower rain down. Signed on bottom "Dawkins, 81/83". On verso, we find an inscription from the artist in pencil: "Turner River Road, FLA Everglades. On location, Oct 28th 1981, Thomas R Dawkins. Re-do, Oct 1983 (SKP) etc". A fine example of Floridiana.

Condition: very good, with some minor staining on frame interior fabric border.

Thomas R. Dawkins began painting as a teenager in Delaware, and moved to Florida in 1961. But it was not until 1974 that he began serious study with Coral Gables artist and teacher Jean Donnell, an experience that strengthened his style, confidence and resolve to make painting a career.
Since then he won numerous awards and had been accepted in the most prestigious juried art festivals in the country.
Dawkin's oils are in the permanent collection of the Art and Culture Museum of Hollywood, Florida. His paintings are in many corporate and private collections.
He divided his time between Michigan and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Condition: very good, with some minor staining on frame interior fabric border.
