Sign In to see what this sold for

Chinese Mandarin Polychrome Carved Figure 18th C. This is a hand carved and painted Buddhist monk figure seated upon a throne. There is evident paint wear and aging to the finish, and as these figures were commonly used on altars, there is residue from incense smoke on the paint. The wood appears to be high quality Asian mahogany. Circa late 1700s to very early 1800s. Provenance Sloans, 1957, ex: Eldreds.
Size: 12" tall
Weight: 2lbs 140z
Condition: very good, finish wear is consistent with the age and the useage of the figure.

Condition report
