Japanese Water Bucket, Satsuma with handle, antique signed Kinkozan. Has hand painted gilt scenes depicting people and servants. Genuine Japanese made, circa 1890.
Size: H. 14.75" x L. 8" x W. 6.75" Weight: 4lbs 12oz Condition: good Satsuma pottery was made in, or around Kagoshima in Kyushu, Japan in the later part of the 19th century, through to the early 1920's in Satsuma in southern Japan. A typical piece if Satsuma pottery will be of a yellowy complexion and usually decorated with intricate and minute Japanese figures, landscapes and even dragons. The designs also feature a form of decoration called moriage which is a term used to describe the use of raised enamel of Japanese pottery. Condition reportGood, hairline imperfection inside on bottom of bucket, coloring and art is excellent.
