Folding Duck Decoys, Boxed, J. W. Reynolds 1910. Reynolds Decoy Factory,Chicago, IL. Very good condition complete set of folding Reynolds Mallards. Original paint as well as condition with original box in very good condition. Circa 1910,this is the first of the companies three decoy patents, this one actually being assigned on August first,1905, patent #796,147. Known as the "Illinois River Folding Wooden Decoy Ducks", these were constructed with one Hen between two Drakes. The patented spring and hinge acted to keep the decoys closed when not in use and open when used. Notice the comb paint done by James Reynold's himself. Made in sets of four, the earliest example came in this box jointed wooden box as shown with the carrying handle.
