Kris or Keris in Javanese culture, made from finely worked steel the blade is double edged and comes to a spear point. Held in place with the original stirrups. Integrated cross guard is worked steel, cut into a pattern typical of the Central and Southern Philippines. Handle is wood wrapped with hemp in a lacquer finish and the top is painted black. Pommel is capped with an inset piece of mother of pearl in a diamond shape. Philippines, late 19th century.
Size: O.a. 30 1/2" L Blade: 26" L Weight: 2lbs Condition: Cutting edge has a few tiny nicks, no scabbard as is typical for a fighting kris as they were dropped purposefully in battle lest they interfere Condition report very good, minor tarnish and aging on blade, scabbard is very good with fine dark patina.
