Machete, WWII US Folding Type A-1 Imperial Knife

WWII US Folding Machete Type A-1 Imperial Knife. Army Air Force Survival Knife manufactured by Imperial Knife Co. Providence RI. Adopted by the US Military in 1942 for the B-4 emergency bail out kit usually attached to the parachute harness. The handle is made from black (what appears to be Bakelite) plastic. The rest of the machete is all blue steel. There is a guard system built into this machete. When closed, the guard protects the blade and hands. When open, the guard flips closed to lock the blade in place. There is a release button for the guard that must be pushed in order to the release the guard and close the blade. Blade is stamped "Imperial Prov..R.I." Still retains its original sharpening stone with marking "Christolon Machete Stone".

Condition: Excellent, some wear to holster and very light, small areas of rust on backstrap of blade protector
