Spillikins Antique toys, approx 34 pieces. Chinese Export, Elephant Ivory, hand carved with original silk-cloth covered box, circa 1850's. Box is marked (stamped) with a partial Chinese label of the maker inside top. Spillikins, often referred to as 'pick-up sticks' in the USA and UK, is an early game of two or more players attempting to extricate the sticks, one at a time, from a dropped pile without disturbing the other sticks. This particular set has many pieces hand-marked with an 'X' or a check mark, indicating they were probably played with by two regulars who would split the sticks in half and used their own pieces each time.
Size: approx. 5.5" L x 1/2-3/4" tops; box 6"Lx Weight Lot: 1oz Condition: The box has recently been re-glued to allow it to maintain its shape & is missing one end panel. Spillikins have threaded X's & check marks, but otherwise in excellent condition. Condition reportThe box has recently been re-glued to allow it to maintain its shape & is missing one end panel.
