Size: 10" H X 16" W x 6" D Weight: 2 lbs, 2 oz Condition: very good, beadwork intact, hide is somewhat stiff, one small repair The name "Possible bag" was given by early nineteenth-century traders to these storage bags... The term is a translation from the Indian word meaning 'a bag for every possible thing'. A more accurate term might be storage or tipi bag, as they contained personal items and were hung around the inside of the tipi. There are many styles of these bags. Some are made from Snapping Turtle shells. These may also be known as "hip purses". Some are rectangular soft-skin bags which doubled as pillows. Others were made long and round. When moving from one camp to another, the possible bags were hung in pairs on the side of the saddle where their decorations could be seen. Condition reportvery good, beadwork intact, hide is somewhat stiff, one small repair
