Seminole Indian Wood Folk Art Fishing Line Greaser. This is a rare piece of early carved wood folk art. Depicting a human head human overlaid with a crayfish and with a pointed, toothed snout. It is an old lobster-like fishing line greaser which looks like a Southern Crayfish, not a New England Lobster. The ideas was to hide the human scent which many fish are sensitive to. The bowl would hold the grease. Thought to date to the 1800's.
