![]() John Lennon's black tailored jacket worn during the Beatles first US press conference and on the Ed Sullivan Show, 1964 This black gaberdine jacket worn by John is documented in many photographs of the Beatles during their first visit to the US. Lennon can be seen wearing the jacket as the band descended the Pan Am flight at JFK, before they stepped onto US soil for the first time on the 7th February 1964, 1.20 pm local time, to be welcomed by over three thousand lusty screaming fans. He is wearing the jacket at the arrival press conference, where the US population were first exposed to the Beatles' legendary 'Scouse' wit, in their jocular answers to the journalists' questions. He was still to be seen wearing, what must have been one of his favourite pieces of clothing, the next day during rehearsals for their historic performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Tailored by Doug Millings. Estimate on request. Upon bidding it will be deemed that you have read and fully understood Cooper Owen's Terms and Conditions and Summary of Charges.
