8 REALE SPANISH SHIPWRECK COIN - 1715 PLATE FLEET A very nice Spanish silver 8 Reale shipwreck coin from the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet. Discovered off the coast o Vero Beach, FL in the 1960's by Mel Fisher. This particular coin was given by Mel as "Spanish rent" to Gene Oathout. Gene owned the La Posada Inn, which is where Mel setup his office in the early days of his treasure hunting operation. Mel paid rent in the form of silver Spanish shipwreck coins. This coin is accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Gene Oathout. 25.4 grams.
