This community was established in the 1970's. Infrastructure, utilities, lake, recreation center, golf course were constructed and served the community during the 1980,s - 2000. North of the City, in the Pueblo, Colorado Springs, and Denver areas, development was rapid. Meanwhile, Colorado City population was slowly growing to 1500. As Pueblo grew, jobs, technical, and college level school, and modern malls with shopping centers were established to serve the residents of Pueblo County. Colorado City and Rye built elementary, middle and high schools to provide educational facilities for the local residents. Water supplies and sewer treatment plants were built or expanded as the city began to grow again.
