Dr. Wilfred Grenfell established the Grenfell Mission in the 1890's and then organized rugmaking into a cottage industry. Made of bleached and dyed rayon and silk strips hooked to a burlap backing. Large pictorial rug depicts several ducks in flight rising from the water with foliage and distant rockery. In very good condition. Tacked to a piece of wood (probably for hanging purposes) and has no vestiges of a manufacturers label attached to back. Measures 4' 5 ½" long x 3' 4" wide.
