French scenic wallpaper produced by Zuber et Cie in Rixheim (Alsace), France. The Zuber wallpaper, titled Scenes of North America, was printed from multiple woodblocks. The 14 panels depict two contiguous sweeping panoramic scenes, “Natural Bridge in Virginia” and “Niagara Falls”. The wallpaper was removed from a New York residence and carefully stored away for many years. The sky section of the paper is in several sections and would require a professional to inpaint and install. The approximate measurement for the two combined scenes is 260" in length x 96" in height or (21 ft and 6 inches x 8 ft). The wallpaper is illustrated on pages 310-311 of the book French Scenic Wallpaper 1795-1865 by Odile Nouvel-Kammerer. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy had the Diplomatic Reception Room in the White House papered with the Scenes of North America - Zuber wallpaper and it still hangs there today.
