19C Zuber West Point French Scenic Wallpaper

French scenic wallpaper produced by Zuber et Cie in Rixheim (Alsace), France. The Zuber wallpaper, titled Scenes of North America, was printed from multiple woodblocks. The 7 panels depict the sweeping panoramic scene, “West Point” after Milbert. The wallpaper was removed from a New York residence and carefully stored away for many years. The sky section has some paper loss and damage and would require a professional to inpaint and install. The approximate measurement is 127" in length x 96" in height or (10 ft and 5inches x 8 ft). The wallpaper is illustrated on pages 310-311 of the book French Scenic Wallpaper 1795-1865 by Odile Nouvel-Kammerer. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy had the Diplomatic Reception Room in the White House papered with the Scenes of North America - Zuber wallpaper and it still hangs there today.
