Authentic Signed Babe Ruth Baseball. The authentic signed Babe Ruth baseball was purchased 15 years ago from Jack Schimatz who lived in East Marion on Long Island, New York. Jack was a baseball fan all his life - from the time he was a young boy. Later in life he had a successful business providing refrigeration and concession services to many baseball stadiums throughout the Northern states. The next item, (the original silver gelatin photograph of Soldier Field), was purchased from Jack at the same time the baseball was purchased. The photograph depicts one of the concession stands Jack provided equipment and services to. As Jack told us, as a boy growing up in New York City, he was allowed to come on the field during a pre-game practice during which players practiced hitting the balls (Jack called it shagging). Jack was able to get an out of bounds ball and personally had Babe Ruth sign it. The signature is very strong, unfortunately the ball was varnished many years ago. On the back of the ball it reads "New Shea" and possibly "David Stein" "Paul Rodgers" and John ???". Jack Schimatz unfortunately passed away in 2005 at the age of 92. At this point in time we have misplaced the original Jack Schimatz signed letter giving the above recounted background history. Hopefully before the day of the auction we will locate the letter, in the meantime we personally guarantee the authenticity of the signed Babe Ruth ball and of course will offer a money back guarantee.
