Lou Gehrig 1930 Batrite Baseball Bat. Professional model Lou Gehrig Batrite Beaver Driver" bat with bat logo obtained from old Bronx N.Y. estate. Gehrig used Batrite bats in 1929 and 1930 - this bat to 1930. Later in the early 1930's,Batrite was sued for selling a small number of Batrite bats nearly identical to their professional models and Gehrig testified in court that he had in fact used Batrites but that he was unaware that any had been made for retail sale."This bat was unlikely to have been a retail model, given its heavy weight of 36 ounces. (As well, it was obtained from a Bronx estate, and Batrite would not likely have sold unauthorized bats right in Gehrig's backyard.) Also, Gehrig did order 34-inch bats during his career, though he preferred 35 inch bats. The knob appears to have been hand-turned. There are a few scuffs and cleat marks on the barrel. No alterations to finish, no gluing and no restoration. Original patina. The bat weighs 36 ounces and measures 34" long.
