Civil War era heavy cutlass by Mole Birmingham

Civil War era heavy cutlass by Mole, Birmingham. With forged iron D-guard and metal grip, 28-1/4in blade, 33-1/2in overall. Blade measures 1-1/4in across the ricasso. The blade, hilt, and grip shows a matching dark patina with scattered light to moderate rust and pitting with no cleaning whatsoever. The throat to the scabbard is retained with hangar, and approx. 3/4 scabbard leather remains, missing tip which is approx. 4-1/2in. Clearly marked Courtney and Tennant, Columbia SC and is one of two models of this naval cutlass known that is so marked
