Circa late teens to 1920's; 13 1/2" diameter; exquisite glass tiles with grouting on glass half globe construction; 2 holes at top center accommodate hanging and display as well as 2" wide half moon breather hole at extreme top center; piece displays beautifully; at some point in the past the original adhesion of the tiles and grout work became unstable and roughly 15% of the surface tiles were removed and re-adhered and regrouted; the match on the original grout is impeccable; this revelation is only discovered when the piece is examined from behind; there is also a short closed crack in the glass on the underbody of the globe, that is highly unlikely to advance since it is reinforced with new adhesive and grout work on top; when viewed and enjoyed --as will be the case in any collection, the only hint to any of the repair work is the fact that 3 small tiles on the extreme outer left top edge do not match the rest of the red tiles in tone or texture exactly; all things considered, this is still an extremely desirable, exceedingly rare half globe and easily displays as a 9 to 9.5 condition / NM
