AMERICAN RENAISSANCE REVIVAL CARVED GILT-WOOD OVER-MANTLE / HALL MIRROR, protruding cartouche-and-shell crest raised on columnar stiles centering the original mirror plate. Along with an earlier Rococo Revival carved and gold painted low pier base with a shaped white-marble top. Circa 1870 and 1860. Mirror: 94" HOA, 71" W at crest; base: 23" H, 72 1/2" W.
Provenance: Property of a Virginia educational institution. Condition reportVery good overall condition. Mirror frame with some small repairs to crest scrolls, crest side ornaments loose but complete, several small ornaments detached but present. Base with later paint and repairs to the legs.
