The rectangular hinged top centered by a gilt-tooled dark-brown leather writing-surface, lifting in two sections with a hinged document holder, the reverse of each with an adjustable silvered support, above two frieze drawers to the sides, on square tapering legs; the carcass stamped to the underside. Gervais-Maximilien-Eugene Durand, born in Paris 1874, celebrated Ébénistes under the trade name “Durand et Fils”. He exhibited in the Exposition Universelle of 1889 where he received a Silver Medal. His designs were in competition to those of Beurdeley and Dasson. He produced almost exclusively many of the copies of furnishings of the XVIII Century. Provenance: A European lady
