Condition reportNote: Whitehead developed several successful red glazes, which were particularly difficult for American art potters. A similar panel of tiles with spectacular red glazes was exhibited in ''The Byrdcliffe Arts and Crafts Colony; Life by Design'' 1984, The Delaware Art Museum and illustrated in ''Byrdcliffe; An American Arts and Crafts Colony'' 2004, Cornell, page 208. Whitehead's glaze formulas are recorded in ledgers now in the Downs Collection, Winterthur Museum, Garden, and Library.
