PUNK / ANARCHISTIC PRINTED WALL HANGING - this one off explicit hanging includes graphic and violent imagery printed on a 3m x 1m piece of muslin in fluorescent yellow, pink, red and blue. The theme of the imagery and messages is punk/anarchy related with threatening messages to those in politics or who are against the punk movement. Some of the more printable messages include 'Don't mess with punk punk, You could wind up like this' and 'Take as much as you want, Anarchy is all wots left, Sodamize all thats around'. This fabric was found at the Leicester Square Theatre (previously the Notre Dame Hall) where many punk bands such as the Sex Pistols and Clash played during the late 70's and early 80's. It is thought that this hanging originated from a gig played at the hall during the late 70's although it is unknown exactly which one. This really is a work of art in itself and really captures the more extreme side of the punk movement. If you are looking for a piece of art from the punk period that really gets people talking then this is it - Jamie Reid looks quite tame in comparison!
