PAUL CANNELL (1963-2005) OIL PAINTING - Abstract oil on canvas by acclaimed artist Paul Cannell. Cannell created a number of paintings (whilst in-house artist at Creation Records) that went onto to be used by Primal Scream and The Manic Street Preachers on their album/single sleeves including the infamous and critically acclaimed album ‘SCREAMADELICA’ which was recently featured on Royal Mail stamps. This particular painting is purely abstract, and uses a palette of neutral shades contrasted by areas of red, purple and green. The composition is made up of a range of rough geometric shapes that tessellate together. The painting (40 x 51cm) is presented in a simple brown wooden frame (50 x 60cm). This comes from the personal collection of Alan McGee (who was a friend of Cannell) and will be sold with a letter of authenticity from Alan detailing where and when he purchased the painting.
