JOHN SQUIRE PAINTING 'DON'T STOP' 1989 - Oil on canvas by acclaimed artist and musician John Squire. This particular piece demonstrates the application of paint using the dripping technique most closely associated with the American Action Painters of the 1950s and 60s in could easily be compared to iconic works of Jackson Pollock. Squire has used a background of fleshy peach tones and worked on top of this using shades of black, white, grey and the occasional accent of red to create a gestural layered effect. It has similarities to the original artwork for the 'Made Of Stone' album ('Cody Calling') and to a lesser extent, the original piece 'Untitled 1'. It is extremely rare to see early Squire work available for sale which undoubtedly adds to the interest and value of this work. The canvas comes simply rolled, with no framework, and measures 72 x 160cm/3' x 5'. This artwork was specifically commission by NME for their Christmas 1989 Issue as can be seen at http://www.john-squire.com/art/gallery_dontstop.html
